Battling the Hawaiian waters

and i'm winning!
Yesterday I got my very first jellyfish sting...it was a Portuguese man of war that looked more like a ball of purple string floating in the water.
This was on Kailua beach, so we drove home quickly to put some window cleaner on my wound.
looks cool yah? like a drunk staggering mosquito bit me.
Later we hit Lanikai beach with sand as fine as flour, and once more at night to watch shooting stars and the moon when it was a bit chillier.

And then today, I hit famous Waikiki beach which was packed with tourist and amateur surfers.
When I first tried getting on a short board, it was like trying to get on that styrofoam board you use when you're learning to swim.
It just wouldn't stay down and kept slipping up under me.
Determined, I wrapped my legs around it and paddled, looking like a very awkward frog.

But before I knew it, I was paddling like a pro...Ohyehh
my tutor was as surprised as me!
