An Altogether Beautiful Day

at the back of my mind i've always wanted my comp to be an alarm clock.
it's already got a massive screeen...
all it needs is the time hugely spelt across it.
telling tim bout my dream...
he responds with "jem! if you can't get an alarm clock on your comp i'm gonna eat your computer!!!"
horrified at the thought of tim actually eating my comp...
which if you knew tim he would actually do.
at 1am i went in search of an application from download.com

this morning i woke up to Bring It Back by Moloko
and just in case that wouldn't wake me up, i set the 2nd screen alarm a minute after that to this really annoying alarm bell...
bleep BLEeeep BLEEEPPPP is what got me out of bed to shut it right up!

(WARNING: there's lots more what-i-did-today info coming so leave now or forever hold your peace)

half asleep i did something to my computer to somehow reboot it and stop internet connection for the rest of the day!
before i came home to discover this, i went for an unhelpful forces lecture sitting next to i'm-having-a-shit-day tim.
the hour after that was spent waiting for a pool table, playing pool, and astonishingly beating tim at a game!
i was so happy yet had to hide it since he wasn't in a good mood.
i hardly ev-er win pool ladies and gentlemen so this morning was worth this mention.

sitting through another 2 hour lecture on heat loss in a building,
i was strangely looking forward to my project meeting after that.
spent £1.50 (S$4.50) on a little paper cup of what they called mocha, but which tasted nothing like it, while discussing how a couple of people hadn't finished their bit of the project.
heading down to the basement of the library where all the architecture/design/arty books are hidden.
i happily scanned out an (surprise surprise) architecture book, a photography book, a book on colour and a book on bathroom designs.
and trust me, these are by far the most exciting books i've checked out the library as yet.
shuffling my feet back home to the music of Lauryn Hill (thank you tim dear) with my goodies from the library...
was peculiarly drawn into Topshop which is 5 minutes from where i live.
on a i-want-to-buy-underwear mode, i flipped through all the designs checking prices and size.
happily heading home with my topshop bag and undies and she chucked in a poster i think.
i opened my mailbox on arrival back home to be greeted by an amazon cardboard package and another letter from home and another package!
was one of those felix the cat's bag experiences, where all these things come out from a space that looked like nothing could fit in it.

struggling upstairs with books, shopping and mail in all available hands.
i was hungry and need lunch fast!
it was 2 plus anyway, way past my usual lunchtime.
was worried this whole time that my comp was ruined by some silly spyware thingy bob.
to cut long tedious story short, i fixed my comp!
which is another uber significant achievement for lil' jem here.
without daddy around, that's a definite first.

and thus this post has been possible.
